This was one of those moments I had to think quick...I saw the evening natural light on Maycin coming in from our living room window on his face (side light). I ran and got my black felt and threw it over the couch behind him and snapped away! I didn't have much time as it seems the evening sun slides down quickly.

Negative Space - Object 4
The only thing different I would have done if I could have, is just have a plain white background...but kind of like the gauze look...

Negative Space - Objects (3)
These were taken at McSwain as well. What I have learned from a lot of the challenges that I have done thus far, that red is a great color to work with if you want something to pop. Since I had nothing else to do other than relax and take photos, I kind of watched for opportunities. This grandmother took her granddaughter for a canoe experience clear across the lake. As they got closer to the other side's edge, the water became a gold tone from the reflection of the brown foothills. I think they both work well for negative space, but want your CC!

Cliff's & My Weekend
Negative Space - Object (2)
This shot was taken at dawn at McSwain Lake...if you are wondering what it is, it's a rock not far from shore. I just liked the way the auburn sunlight lit the edge of the rock.

Negative Space - Object
Cliff and I went on a little weekender camping trip to McSwain Lake, about a 30 minute drive from our house. We didn't want to go far since we couldn't get off work early Friday and didn't want to set up camp in the dark (In which we did anyway). It was perfect!!! We got a lakeside site...Friday evening, with the 3/4 moon bright, it lit the entire lake and hillsides. I had only wished my camera had the capabilities to capture it, because the lake was so glassy calm it captured the images of the moonlit foot hills. It was awesome. We just sat by the lake and talked in the moonlight until it got chilly (about 11pm). Yesterday was a bit windy, but gorgeous! Today was perfect and I didn't want to come home...Anyway, on one of our little drives, I got this gnarly oak tree as a negative space shot.

OCTOBER CHALLENGE - NEGATIVE SPACE
This is a Negative Space photo I used in a different photo challenge
Theme: Negative Space
The term "Negative Space" refers to a large area of a photograph that is devoid of detail. Too MUCH negative space will cause the viewer to become lost in the void of emptiness, too little and the subject will show up cramped in the image. So came the term, "less is more" and the negative space turned to become a very positive part of the image where your subject will stand out much, much more.
For the month of October, we will explore Negative Space. Below are the challenges by week. (Try to stay on subject for that week)
October 1 Negative Space with an object
October 8 Negative Space with a person
October 15 Negative Space with an animal
October 22 Negative Space with a building
October 29 Negative Space your choice
The link below has great examples of Negative Space...Lets get started and lets have some fun!!!!
